Editorial Standards
CyberTech Edition covers cybersecurity, threat intelligence, data protection and security operations for the people who buy, build and run it. This page sets out how we report, what we publish and how we fix mistakes.
Sources
Every story is based on a primary source: the company’s own announcement, a regulator’s filing or release, a court document, or published research. Each piece ends with a Source line that links to it. Other trade publications can point us to a story, but we never cite them as its source.
Figures, quotes and job titles come from the source as published. We do not add claims the source does not make.
Headlines
A headline states what the source says happened, at the stage it happened, using the company’s own description of the deal or product. “Agrees to acquire” and “completes its acquisition” are different events, and we write them that way.
One story, one page
When an event we have already covered moves on, for example a deal that closes or a product that ships, we update the original story with a dated note rather than publishing it again under a new headline.
How stories are produced
Our editors use AI tools to help find, research and draft stories. Each piece is checked against its primary source before it is published, and every published piece is reviewed again in a daily editorial check that fixes errors and flags problems for the editor. The person named in the byline is accountable for the story.
Independence and labelling
We do not sell coverage. A company cannot pay for a news story, an article or a review, and advertisers get no say over what we report.
- Sponsored content is paid for by a client, is labelled as sponsored at the top of the page, and its links carry rel=”sponsored”.
- Press releases published in our Press Release section are the issuing company’s own text, labelled with the issuer’s name and kept out of search results.
- Guest articles are written by the person named in the byline, who works in the field. We do not accept payment for them and allow one link to the author’s company.
- Opinion pieces are labelled as opinion and argue a position from sourced facts.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct the story and log the change in our corrections register. To report an error, email editorial@cybertechedition.com with the link and the correction. Companies named in a story can use the same address.
